Little Lemon

about

Little Lemon is a contemporary Italian restaurant based in Chicago, renowned for its modern cuisine and vibrant atmosphere. As part of their digital growth strategy, Little Lemon sought to optimize their mobile app to increase online reservations, streamline the booking process, and provide a seamless user experience that reflects the quality of their brand. This project was part of Meta's UX principles course.


My Value as UX/UI Designer


  • Translated complex business requirements into user-centric solutions.

  • Facilitated alignment between stakeholders through clear documentation and low-fidelity wireframes.

  • Advocated for accessibility and inclusivity throughout the design process.



challenge

The existing reservation system was cumbersome and unintuitive, leading to user frustration and a high drop-off rate before confirmation. The business objective was clear: increase the rate of successful reservations while minimizing friction and aligning the digital experience with the restaurant’s premium positioning.


To address this, I led the research and definition phase by:
  • Creating a detailed persona and empathy map to capture user frustrations and desires.

  • Defining essential features based on both user needs and business goals.


By combining deep user insight with business acumen, I delivered a solution that not only delighted users but also drove measurable results for Little Lemon. My approach ensured that every design decision was anchored in both user empathy and business objectives, resulting in a product that elevated the restaurant’s digital experience and directly impacted their bottom line.

Solution & Impact

Intuitive Online Booking Experience
  • The minimalist, color-coded calendar improved visibility of available dates and times.

  • Users could select their dining area, including the exclusive VIP lounge.

  • Users could share reservations with guests and add bookings to their calendars directly from the confirmation email.


90% of test users completed a reservation under 2 mn
  • User feedback highlighted the simplicity and clarity of the new process.

  • The optimized CTA and intuitive calendar led to a significant increase in successful reservations.

  • Business impact: improved conversion rate, enhanced customer satisfaction, and a stronger digital brand presence.

  • Suggested next step: adding a feature to view available tables for further transparency.
