Niko Shiatsu

about

Nikolas M., a shiatsu practitioner in Paris, aimed to elevate his brand awareness and attract a broader clientele in a highly competitive wellness market. The project focused on crafting a holistic and balanced visual identity that would authentically capture the essence of ancient shiatsu techniques while conveying professionalism and innovation. The goal was to position Nikolas as a reference in his field and to translate the unique benefits of his practice into a compelling brand experience.



My Added Value as Art Director


By combining strategic vision and creative direction, I translated complex therapeutic concepts into a powerful and elegant visual language. My holistic approach ensured every design choice supported business objectives—attracting new clients, building trust, and enhancing brand visibility. The result is a distinctive, scalable identity that embodies both the spirit of shiatsu and the ambitions of the practitioner.

The main challenge was to design a visual identity that communicates both the serenity and effectiveness of shiatsu, while distinctly differentiating Nikolas from other therapists in the Parisian market. The identity needed to resonate with potential clients seeking well-being, trust, and authenticity, and to stand out visually in a saturated sector.


Approach & Design Process

My approach as Art Director and Designer was structured around five key phases:

  • Research & Analysis: I immersed myself in the world of shiatsu, exploring its history, symbolism, and the expectations of a Parisian clientele. This phase included benchmarking competitors and gathering insights from wellness industry trends.

  • Brand Image Definition: Together with the client, I defined the core values and unique positioning of his practice, establishing the foundations for a coherent and meaningful brand narrative.

  • Ideation: I explored visual metaphors and cultural references, focusing on symbols of energy, harmony, and renewal.

  • Design: The logo features a stylized crane with outstretched wings, evoking the rays of a rising sun. This composition symbolizes Japanese tradition, the vital energy flow central to shiatsu, and the renewal the therapy brings. The logo is memorable, versatile, and instantly recognizable—even at small sizes.

  • Strategy: I developed a cohesive set of communication tools—business cards and promotional materials—using a calming yet vibrant color palette. Graphic elements evoke the flow of energy, reinforcing the holistic nature of the practice. The palette was carefully chosen for its symbolism: nature and growth, stability and wisdom, energy and vitality, purity and clarity.

The new visual identity and communication tools led to a 6% increase in clientele for Nikolas M. The brand now stands out in the Parisian wellness landscape, conveying both tradition and modernity. The logo and visual system are instantly recognizable and adaptable across all media, strengthening Nikolas’s professional credibility and appeal.
